Oshoala Scores Hat-Trick for Barcelona Femeni against Real Betis

30 January, 2022

Oshoala is just shaking off a knee injury she suffered when she ruptured a ligament in her right knee back in a Womens Champions League clash against Hoffenheim early November last year.

The Nigeria international scored a hat-trick to take her tally in the league to 15 goals. The 27-year-old put Barcelona ahead in the 18th minute, finishing off perfectly a cross from Caroline Hansen.
Oshoala then scored her second in the 37th minute, tapping home a low cross from Dutch star Lieke Martens. she completed her hat-trick in the 44th minute by capitalising on a defensive error to fire past Betis goalkeeper.

The former Arsenal and Liverpool forward could have added a fourth in the second half, but she failed to connect properly to a cross from the right, which was eventually converted by Fridolina Rolfö.

Ever since joining the Spanish side in 2019, Oshoala has won six major titles tasting success in the Primera Division back to back in 2019/20 and 2020/21 as well as lifting the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2020/21 becoming the first African female to achieve the feat. With 16 goals in all competitions this season, Oshoala remains on course to break the 20 goal mark she set in the 2019/2020 campaign. The win over Betis extends Barcelona’s lead at the top to 11 points
