Despite all the controversies, bickering and shenanigans that greeted last Saturdays ward congresses and governorship primaries in Ekiti State, one contender for the governorship ticket in APC, is seemingly the incumbent Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Forget all the unfounded allegations and counter allegations surrounding his candidature, especially from most of the over thirty equally eligible and credible aspirants, the former governor of the state still stands tall, unscathed, unperturbed and lofty high among the lot. He has been able to muster all the political might and muscle in his arsenal to garner a sizeable followership for self and the party, on the road to his second coming as a governor of the Fountain of Knowledge state, Ekiti. Even the ruling PDP in the state and perhaps the foremost arch rivals in the state July 14 governorship election, are already getting jittery on the growing and mounting popularity of Fayemi in the state, more so with their power of incumbency factor. Bespectacled Fayemi has so much deployed his wisdom and unbridled first term outing as governor of the state to ensure a smooth landing for him in the coming polls. At the national, state, local government and ward levels, Fayemi has so entrenched himself positively, that it will take a magician or miracle worker to upstage him when the chips are down. Whether the primaries are re-ordered or taken from where it was disrupted by some disgruntled elements, Dr. Fayemi still stands a golden chance to carry the day.
