If there is anything that gives him the greatest joy in life, it is the grace and ability to proclaim the good image of his country and to showcase its culture to the world. The Chargé d’Affaires ad interim U.S. Embassy in Abuja; David Greene is one of the proactive cultural ambassadors and diplomats his country has produced is not in doubt.

The former Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires in Morocco; David Greene, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, who joined the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria as Deputy Chief of Mission in August 2022 and as of March 31, 2023, he rose to become the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim for the U.S. Embassy, Nigeria.

In his very impeccable and enviable exploits as a professional career and indefatigable diplomat, the Chargé d’Affaires David J. Greene, recently, featured on the April edition of "Speak with a Diplomat" where he promised to continue and strengthening the enduring bilateral friendship and partnership between the United States and Nigeria, is a mission he is still bent on accomplishing to the optimum without resting on his oars.

David also shared valuable insights on the depth and breadth of U.S.-Nigeria relations, including the burgeoning connections between our two countries in the creative sectors as well as educational opportunities in the United States.

Greene had previously served as Political Counselor in Rabat from 2012-2015 and his other assignments include postings in Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and Vietnam and tours in Washington as Director of the Office of Egyptian Affairs;  Director for ASEAN Multilateral Affairs; and Deputy Director for Israeli and Palestinian Affairs.

David Greene holds a bachelor’s degree in Government from Harvard University, a master’s from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and a master’s from the U.S. National War College.  He speaks Arabic and French.  Mr. Greene is married and has two daughters.
