FKJ GROUPS WARN SANWO-OLU ON CABINET OFFICER

Following the resignation of the former commissioner of physical planning, Tpl Idris Salako, who was considered a representative of Ifako-Ijaye in the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the people of the local government have requested his replacement by their choice.

In a cross-interview by our reporter with the community leaders and political class, they argued that it would be unwise for the people of the local government, who have always delivered the third populous votes to the party since 1999 not to have one of them as a cabinet officer or denied the over two(2) million residents, representative in the state's cabinet.

Mr. Deola Akinbiyi, head of Professional Group in Ifako-Ijaye disagreed with a proxy choice citing the case of the former cabinet officer, whom he said failed to carry the people of the local government along, especially in the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of his constituency.

Mrs. Funmilayo Talabi who represents the Traders and Artisans Group sympathised with the continued pressure on the current state legislator, Hon. Tope Adewale, hence "we are using this medium to appeal to the governor to give the local government a cabinet officer so as to complement the effort of the hard-working state legislator.

She noted " the young man is never tired and has done so much in all sectors to better the lots of the people and facilitate infrastructural development to the local government within a short time, we are proud of him"

Meanwhile, the groups commended the governor for the various developments his administration has delivered to the people of Ifako-Ijaye within over three years in office despite the Covid-19 that almost hindered his effort.

The groups mentioned several roads infrastructure such as Fagbohun, Momoh, Taofeek Saheed streets, street lights, Ifako-Ijaye bus terminal, modern Iju Railway Station, proposed construction of the Onijemo link bridge at Obawole, and others.

Said he " We are grateful to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for provision of social amenities in our local government such as Ifako-Ijaye bus terminal, on-going modern Iju-Railway station, Fagboun, Omomoh, Taofik Saheed Streets, educational facilities in the local government and many others that cannot be mentioned.

The groups wondered why the vibrant local government, which has qualified people and experienced hands always considered for the position of Special Advisers instead of cabinet officers.

They described the situation as unfair and unjust for the hard-working voters of Ifako-Ijaye to always be ignored while one local government, which could not match "our electoral value to have three slots in the present administration"

They said further "We are also appealing to the governor, the party leadership, and the stakeholders to consider one of the members of the political class in the local government for membership of the Government Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision body of the party, considering the role "our local government has always played in the electoral success of our great party, APC, after all, we have qualified hands who can fill the such sensitive position"
