He has the wherewithal to weather all storms and obstacles in his way, and this is not hyperbolic of him.
He may have had a rather shoddy and unwholesome time recently with the anti-graft agency, EFCC, over a yet to be proved allegation of sleaze, but this has not deterred debonair Tokunbo Modupe from his much-vaunted senatorial dream in his Ondo North senatorial district. The effervescent, ubiquitous and industrious boss of top notch PR agency, TPT International Limited, is more than ever taking his defiant entry into the murky and turbulent water of Ondo state politics. Latest hints filtering in about Modupe’s recent assiduous activities on the political turf, gaining grounds here and there to further amplify his senatorial dream come 2019. Besides, Toks, as he is fondly referred to, on account of his genuine support to many people in his state, via assisting them in both elective and appointive positions at all levels of government in the state, is now adding more notches to his ambition. Thus when his people of Ondo North senatorial district, allegedly came calling on him to be their voice at the Senate in 2019, their intention was plausible. According to them, he has provided a good voice for them in the politics of the party and the state; he was directly connected with them and genuinely identified with their conditions as one who rose from amongst them, thus assisting in the overall development of his place. It is again believed that Modupe has inadvertently become the most qualified person to vie for the upper NASS seat in next year’s election. Modupe’s acclaimed candidacy is also coming with the advantage that he is about the only one at the moment, aspiring to that office, with strong and firm roots in two of the six local government areas that make up Ondo North senatorial district. He is both an illustrious son and chief to boot, Akogun of Owo, in Owo Local Government Area, being his paternal homestead, and he is of Ute, his maternal ancestral home in Ose Local Government Area, also of the same Ondo North senatorial district. When all these indices are put together, Modupe’s chances to clinch the ticket for the plum post in the forth coming elections are just too bright for any other candidate to contend with, all things being equal.
