The funeral service of former Head of Interim Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, was held at the Cathedral Church Of Christ, Marina in Lagos state today February 4. Leading the Federal Government delegation was Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Others in attendance are the Secretary to the Government of Federation, Boss Mustapha, Minister of Information Lai Mohammed, Former Head Of State Yakubu Gowon, the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, as well as the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki. Former President Goodluck Jonathan was also in attendance. Late Shonekan who served as the head of the Interim national government between August and November 1993 died on the 11th of January 2022 at the age of 86.

Student feared dead as police, cultists clash in Kwara

At least a student of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, was reportedly shot dead in the early morning of Saturday, 29 January, at Lajolo village in the Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State during a clash between some cult members and policemen. The victim simply identified as Jamiu, a final-year student of the institution, was allegedly shot with two others while two policemen were also confirmed to have suffered gunshot wounds during the blood clash. Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the clash was between police detectives from the Special Tactical Squad, Abuja, and some cult groups who were meeting around the village, Punch reports. Car Dealer In Zamfara Arraigned For ‘Eating Body Parts’ Of 9-Year-Old

A prominent car dealer in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara state and four other people were, on Tuesday, arraigned before a chief magistrate’s court for killing, decapitating and eating body parts of a 9-year-old boy identified as Ahmad Yakubu Aliyu. The accused were brought to the court amid tight security. The magistrate, Sa’adu Gurbin Bore, read the charges against them and they all pleaded not guilty. The judge then adjourned the case till February 8 2022 for mentioning. Earlier, the parents of the slain boy and other sympathisers had stormed the court, seeking for justice for their murdered son. They said they were troubled by the killing and would never forgive the culprits. Police declare 21 persons wanted over monarch’s abduction in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has declared 21 people wanted in connection with the kidnapping of a traditional ruler, Igwe Oliver Chike Nnaji of Ogwu-aniocha community Ogbaru Local Government Area. The suspects are also wanted in connection with the recent murder of two persons in the community. The people were listed in a press statement issued by the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, who also urged anybody with relevant information on the locations of any of the suspects to contact the police.
