Like a cat with nine lives, the mercurial city boy, Hon. Folorunsho Coker, widely known as Folly Coker has come to prove that he is one that cannot be toyed with in the face of controversies, condemnations and annihilations.
Like him or hate him, Folly is definitely a recurring decimal in the arena of tourism and related spheres; not with his recent appointment as the substantive Director General of the Nigerian Tourism and Development Commission, (NTDC).
His announcement of this plum post, though was greeted with mixed reactions, it still does not remove the fact that Folly is in a familiar terrain again, having served as Lagos Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the recent past. It is like putting the right and round peg inside the right hole. Being an extrovert, and a well-grounded socialite with his stupendous wealth, avant-garde and sliver-spoon Lagos Bigboy will definitely bring his many diverse exposure to the many tourist centers around the world he has visited at one time or the other, to bear on his new portfolio. This is what Folly will use to take the Nigerian Tourism Industry to the next level. Folly Coker has been in the limelight since 1999 when Asiwaju Tinubu appointed him as one of his special advisers after which he was made managing director of the number plate production authority of the State of Lagos. Meanwhile, before Folly came into the public service he was quietly plying his trade as a businessman of legitimate status.
