Many may be confused with the title of this piece, but that is just a borrowed phrase to capture the proper illustration in dramatizing what played out in Lagos at the popular and upscale watering hole, Niteshift Coliseum, when honor was given to the person that deserves it for the reward of their immediate environment.
At the Coliseum’s Grand House Reception last Sunday, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Lagos State governorship candidate, was hosted amidst pomp and ceremony into the Hall of Fame of the Grand House Reception, GHR, of the Niteshift Coliseum. The strictly by invitation premium event attracted top politicians, captains of industry and patrons of the top-notch club located on Salvation Road in Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos. Sanwo-Olu, an accomplished private and public sector administrator, was treated to a lavish reception on the almost 500-Square meter red carpet of the Coliseum in the full glare of high profile guests. He was later to be ushered into the Coliseum’s main arena on the hot seat, where he shared his combined experience in both public and private sectors. The GHR is a non-partisan highest honour accorded renowned Nigerians and respected members of the society by the high profile hangout turned event centre. Among those honoured in the past are former President Goodluck Jonathan; former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; ex-Senate presidents, Anyim Pius Anyim, Adolphus Wabara and Kenneth Nnamani; former Ghanaian President, Jerry Rawlings; Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s Finance Minister; Mallam Nasir el-Rufai; Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos State Governor; All Progressives Congress, APC, National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, just to mention a few. Mr. Ken Calebs-Olumese, Guv’nor of The Coliseum, described the event as a 7-Star program with all the glitz, glamour and razzmatazz accustomed to the club.
