When the former governor of Lagos State, and the National Chieftain of APC, Asiwaju ‘Bola Ahmed Tinubu, clocked 65 years days back, many expected most of his loyalists to grace the event; but conspicuously absent were many of his ‘good boys of yore’, who seemed to have parted ways with him. Need we mention them without telling you the tidings of the event that attracted the high and mighty of the political sphere. The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, his wife, Dolapo, ministers, senators, house of reps members, the entire Lagos state cabinet, led by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, political associates from different divides were there to rejoice with the Jagaban. But those who missed in the birthday celebration of Tinubu, but were not missed, are notably. Former VP Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, Muiz Banire, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Abike Dabiri and many more. Asiwaju Tinubu, at 65, will remain a benchmarker for other politicians to follow, as he has made himself a leading light since he sauntered into politics over two decades ago. He is toeing, against all odds, the path of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and posterity will judge him right or wrong. He remains the last man standing in the politics of the ‘change mantra’.
