In celebration of Late Pa Obafemi Awolowo Post-humous birthday, yesterday, Engineer Saeed Alagbe went around secondary schools across Ado-Odo LCDA to teach civic education and civic values.
According to him: Civic values help the population to live a better, and saver life. All people who want to live together in a community should respect these values. It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes.
He advised the students to demonstrate civic values in their daily activities as that is the only way our societies can progress meaningfully. For example, student who listens to his/her teacher when he/she tells him/her to keep quiet or helps his/her classmates during an assignment is modelling civic values. Explaining further, he said every society is held together by certain values. These values help keep society running, help keep people happy, and ensure security for future generations. While there are many different civic values, he preached genuine service in whatever positions they find themselves, personal responsibility – people should take 100% responsibilities for their actions, respect for one another, and legitimate success drives amongst our youth. Saeed Alagbe also supervised the distribution of recharged internet modems to secondary school libraries across the LCDA to aid learning and researches amongst the students.
