As the December 9, National Convention of the People Democratic Party, PDP, draws near, the permutations and math are still very much in favour of the former two-term governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
Forget about the kangaroo screening panel purported to have pruned the aspirants down to three, excluding OGD from the three, the Ogidi Omo is still a hot favourite for the top PDP post, as the Chairman of the PDP BoT, Alhaji Walid Jubril, has dismissed any plan by the party to prune the aspirants to three, saying anyone doing that is again trying to fan the embers of discord and disunity, which the party just overcame. Back to OGD, there are strong indications within the party that the engineer-turned-politician is daily garnering support from across all the strata of the party, on account of his goodwill, solid financial pedigree, high network of influential members within the party, and a very strong support base back in his state and within the party interim hierarchy. OGD is not taking anything for granted though, as he has been very busy strategizing and mobilizing for more support across all the 36 states, in full readiness for the convention that promises to be very keen and tension-soaked. With his mounting favoured posture for the PDP national chair, other aspirants have begun to get jittery, but this does not mean that they are also not equally formidable as OGD, but in any contest only one contestant will come first, and OGD from all indications, appears to be the likely contestant to coast home.
