Skye Bank on Monday said it would continue to give support to business owners through its Small and Medium Enterprises support policy, aimed at developing capacity to grow and nurture businesses, thereby creating more employment for the people.
The bank’s Agodi branch manager, Mrs. Bukola Ogidan, speaking at a business development forum organized by Capacity Development Summit, said in line with the direction of the Central Bank of Nigeria to drive inflow of fund into the SME sector, the bank would continue to identify with relevant players in the sector.
While other guest speakers at the forum, including Audu Maikori and Kene Ikaro, were of the view that vision, planning, training, execution, persistence and faith in God were key indices for business success.
Ogidan said “at Skye Bank, one of our focuses is to nurture businesses. We realize the importance of playing a leading role in the development of the SMEs. In a summit like this, there are a lot of business owners who will need our support in terms of business education and other areas.
“We are ready to give financial backing to some of the participants who approach us and meet our credit policy requirements. Our support for capacity development is in line with the direction of the CBN to drive the economy through the inflow of fund in the SME sector.”
The Convener of the summit, Mr. Idowu Ogedengbe, told our correspondent that the platform focused on the possibility of developing business career in Ibadan, stressing that the city had the infrastructure and the enabling environment to play host to investors.
He said, “We believe that Ibadan is a strategic city with a lot of potential that is yet to be unlocked. We want to see the city rising up to take its position in the industrial sector, with headquarters of multi-national companies being located there.
“We want to see a new set of business owners, especially small and medium scale investors taking their positions in the city. The idea is to develop the youths’ capacity so that they can have the right attitude towards business development.”
