There is bountiful joy and excitement in the air for Nollywood actors as Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State is the next prime destination for this year’s Best of Nollywood (BON) Award ceremony.
To this extent, the Governor Ibikunle Amosun led-administration will be much-coveted host of the anticipated all-embracing show stopping event. Many of the actors are now heaving a sigh of relief that this year’s BON award will be most remarkable without hiccups as experienced in previous editions; because they wouldn’t be going far from their original bases. BON Award, conceptualized and initiated by veteran Seun Oloketuyi, has overtime tried and virtually succeeding to achieve excellence with this novel idea; via a stress-free flow of the hordes of celebrities from their bases to the award for annual event. Of course, many have complained about the shoddy treatment meted out to them about the previous event centres where the award proper was held from their hotel accommodation as in mobility to and fro. An instance is this; from Asaba to Port Harcourt to Akure and last year's Aba destination, the story is normally similar of passengers either missing their flights on account of poor bookings by the organisers or untidy transportation plans from the hotel rooms to the venue. There were the implications, so to speak, of adequate logistic personnel to ensure a seamless transfer of scores of entertainers and media people billed to cover the award ceremonies from the airport to the hotel reservations and down to the venue. The complaints, year in year out are immeasurable, as organisers are starved of adequate funds by the host sponsors to ensure this is nipped in the bud or they are either overwhelmed by the large number of people they have to transfer from point A to point B. Like AMAA, BON also suffers this manner of treatment especially when the event holds at a far distance from the hotel reservations of invitees. This year’s event of BON Award will definitely be a sharp departure from previous editions because of the attraction in proximity to venue even as the host Governor and his wife have reiterated on occasion of their support for the advancement of entertainment as a veritable wheel for progress of the society. Succinctly, Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, assures creative arts and entertainment practitioners of his administration’s support, adding that it would tap into the potential in the various sectors of the economy, in line with the diversification drive. This was the assurance he gave while receiveing organisers of the 2017 Best of Nollywood (BON) Award led by Seun Oloketuyi, in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta governor’s office. The efforts of Seun Oloketuyi are now coming to fruition after eight years of relentless and positive drive to bring the entertainment industry via Nollywood and acts to fore and this year event is about to prove his mettle. Let us tell you that the impending host Goveronor summarized Seun Oloketuyi ambition when he decried the monolithic nature of the nation’s economy, and advocated for the promotion of the industry, because of its huge potential to the socio-economic development of the country. The industry watchers await the event with bated anxiety and sincere expectation.
