Wenger breaks silence on leaving FIFA for new coaching job

19 August, 2020

Ex-Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, has strongly denied speculation that he could become the new manager of the Dutch national team.

The Netherlands’ current coach, Ronald Koeman, has taken over from Quique Setien at Barcelona.

Wenger has not managed any team since he left Arsenal in 2018 and there were rumours that he could be lured by the Holland role, ahead of the delayed European Championships next summer.

But speaking to beIN Sport, the 70-year-old made it clear he had no intentions of leaving his current role as Chief of Global Football Development at FIFA.

“I believe there were some reports saying that I offered my availability to take the job, but I am not available,” Wenger said.

“I work at FIFA and I work very hard and I didn’t speak to anybody. I don’t know where that news came from.”3
