It was a moment of honour and celebration for well sought-after Islamic singer and woman of honor; Alhaja Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso as she was crowned the ‘Sheikha of Music’ last weekend at the Maolid Nabiyy and Award Presentation of Morkaz Ogombo in Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government area of Lagos.
The event was colourful with an array of women adorned with orange and white-blue hijabs. A consortium of Islamic clerics endorsed Alh. Rukayat Gawat as they agreed that she was a woman of success. Giving reasons on crowning her as ‘Sheikha of Music’, the chief host, Alhaji AbdulHakeem Adeleke Arowokola said, "Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso is different from other Islamic musicians that bleach their skin, and not among those that expose her body in the name of entertaining and doing music; she is an Islamic singer that lives what she preached to her audience and followership and even though her father has set a good example and always does as someone that is led by Allah. We (the entire Muslim society Ogombo) congratulate you on this honour".
Responding, the Ebony and gorgeously looking mother of two said this was a special honour and will spur her to do more. Alhaja Rukayat has distinguished herself in imparting good morals to women through her music; among those that came with her to the event are high-octane personalities, include her promoter; Mr Sunday Esan, CEO of Okiki Music and Films Productions and friends and family as well as her numerous Ruqoyaah Gawat Fans Club (RGFC).
Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso remains one of the most patronized Islamic singers in town; she comes across to you as a likeable privileged, wealthy lady and down to earth person, she won the 2016 best female Islamic artiste of the year at City People Entertainment Awards and also clinched the 2016 best female Islamic musician of the years from IMAN awards. She is adjudged to be the best among others now in the Islamic music world and she is making a difference in the lives of the younger generation.
