Lagos politics now has a fresh face in Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, a name that is quickly becoming popular as one of the state’s rising leaders. In a political space long controlled by older and familiar figures, the young Chairman of Agege Local Government shows a clear change in generation. He brings bold ideas, a strong connection with the grassroots, and growing support from young people who want positive change.

Calm and confident, Vinod has continued to change how people see youth leadership in Lagos. Without too much noise or political drama, he has achieved more than many expected, proving his critics wrong. His leadership in Agege shows purpose and direction, combining confidence, ability, and a modern style that many residents appreciate.

Vinod’s growing influence comes from his close relationship with the people. He focuses on the needs of the community and promotes youth-based programs.

Recently his administration partnered with veteran filmmaker Kunle Afolayan to empower young creatives in the community.

The collaboration, initiated by Chairman Ganiyu Obasa, aims to provide practical skills training in film, music, and podcasting, equipping youths with the tools to pursue careers in the creative industry.

Accompanied by the vice chairman, council manager, and members of the management team, Obasa visited Afolayan to chart a collaborative pathway for youth development through the creative industry.

He also launched a ₦100 million grant program to support small business owners, traders, women, youth, and other vulnerable groups in Agege.

His work at the grassroots level has gained attention beyond Nigeria, with some international media platforms highlighting his efforts in youth empowerment and community development.

One strong part of his leadership is his love for youth engagement through sports. During the just concluded AFCON activities, Vinod used sports as a way to bring young people together, inspire them, and encourage unity.

This smart use of sports to connect with the youth has also increased his public image as a forward-thinking and relatable leader.

At a time when many people are looking for fresh ideas and trustworthy leadership, Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa is gradually becoming a symbol of a new Lagos; young, focused, and ready to lead.
