History Recorded As Wizkid Becomes First African To Hit 11 Billion Spotify Streams

Afrobeats singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has set a new record as the first African artist to surpass 11 billion total streams on Spotify across all his credits.

The milestone was announced on Tuesday by music data handle Chart Africa on X.

The platform stated that Wizkid is the first African artist ever to cross the 11 billion mark on the streaming service.

The post reads, “Wizkid becomes the first African artist EVER to cross 11 Billion Spotify streams across all credits”.

The record comes days after the release of his collaboration with DJ Tunez titled ‘State of Mind’.

The track, released on May 15, 2026, recorded over 685,000 global streams on Spotify within its first full day.
