Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has directed all its candidates to remain in Nigeria until the conclusion of the 2027 general elections.

The state chairman of the party, Cornelius Ojelabi, issued the directive during the inauguration of the APC Tinubu-Hamzat Campaign Council at the party secretariat in Ikeja.

The campaign council was established to coordinate the party’s efforts towards securing the election of President Bola Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate in Lagos State, Femi Hamzat, in the 2027 elections.

The inauguration also formally signalled the commencement of the APC’s statewide campaign activities ahead of the general elections.

Addressing the candidates, Ojelabi urged them to work closely with the campaign council and remain actively involved in the party’s mobilisation efforts.

“To our candidates, cooperate with the campaign council and make yourself available. After today’s inauguration, no candidate is allowed to travel outside the country until after the general elections,” he said.

The APC chairman also warned members against taking the opposition for granted, urging them to remain focused and work together to achieve the party’s electoral objectives.

He said the campaign would be taken to the grassroots through the party’s structures across the senatorial districts, local government areas, wards and polling units.

According to Ojelabi, the party is targeting five million votes in Lagos State and plans to rely on coordinated grassroots mobilisation to achieve the target.

He further appealed to party members to maintain peace throughout the campaign period.

“Let our campaign be devoid of hatred, thuggery and violence,” Ojelabi said.
