In the midst of controversies the Super Eagles once again improved slightly in the latest FIFA rankings released for March, the team rose to 62nd after being ranked 63rd last month.

The three-time African Champions also moved up in the African ranking from 12th to 11th and surprisingly Cape Verde Islands is now the number one country in Africa ranked 31 in the world.

Cape Verde surpassed Ivory Coast to become first in the African standings, followed by Algeria, Ghana and Tunisia.

While the next Super Eagles opponent for AFCON qualifiers later this month, Egypt ascended three places now 53rd, Other African countries above Nigeria include Senegal (48), Congo DR (58), Congo (59) and Cameroon (61)

Belgium is still holding on their lead on the international, succeeded by Argentina, Spain, Germany and Chile.
