Victor Valdes is set to depart Manchester United, the former Barcelona shot stopper posted a message thanking fans for their support.
The 34-year-old Spaniard has been tipped to join Standard Liege on loan for the rest of the season after enduring a difficult spell at Old Trafford, with boss Louis van Gaal leaving him out of his squad following a refusal to represent the Red Devils' U21 side.
Van Gaal omitted Valdes from United’s pre-season tour of the United States and has also refused to hand the Spaniard a squad number.
Valdes joined United in January 2015 after training with them for two-and-a-half months as he sought to regain fitness following a cruciate ligament injury.
He only made two first-team appearances, replacing the injured David De Gea against Arsenal in May and then starting in a 0-0 draw against Hull.
Valdes took to social media to post a message that reads: “Thank you all for your support during these months of hard work for me, I will never forget! See you soon!”
According to reports Man. United would help fund Valdes’ loan salary at Liège as the 18-month deal he signed in 2015 expires in the summer.
