The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has assured that States COVID-19 Task Forces would work closely with their Palliatives Implementation Committees on the distribution of palliatives to Nigerians.

This was made known in a communique by the Chairman and Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi, after NGF 14th teleconference meeting.

Fayemi said the forum received updates on palliatives sharing from business mogul, Aliko Dangote on behalf of the Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID).

On Thursday, the body announced N23billion worth palliative targeting 10 million Nigerians.

The communique noted that the flag-off started on August 4 in Borno, Edo, Enugu and Kano States.

Fayemi said the launch would hold daily across one state each in the six geopolitical zones until August 11, when it would be concluded in all 36 states.

The forum pledged to provide appropriate health and security measures for the 2019 Annual Performance Assessment of States (SFTAS) programme expected to start from Sunday.

“The NGF Secretariat will provide Technical Assistance to the remaining five states yet to publish their Audited Financial Statement (AFS),” it said.

State governments with unresolved issues with their resident doctors were urged to meet with the association to agree on workable solutions.

The issues include unpaid salaries for doctors and the non-domestication and non-implementation of the Medical Residency Training Act, 2017.

The communique recalled that the NEC Ad-Hoc Committee on Security and Policing met with heads of the security agencies to discuss and review the security challenges Nigeria.

It added that resolutions reached will soon be presented to President Muhammadu Buhari.
