Nigerians can now manage more of their everyday financial activities from a single app, following the launch of the new Remita App at Nigeria Fintech Week 2026 in Lagos on Tuesday.

The new app brings multiple bank accounts, payments and personal money-management tools together in one place, allowing users to transfer funds, pay bills, buy airtime and data, set recurring payments, track expenses and manage their finances without having to switch between different platforms.

The launch marks a new direction for Remita, which has spent more than two decades providing payment services to businesses, government and institutions. The company is now taking that experience directly to consumers, with plans to continue adding financial services and capabilities to the app.

‘DeRemi Atanda, Managing Director/CEO, Remita Payment Services Limited, said:

“For more than 20 years, Remita has helped businesses, government and institutions make payments. With the Remita App, we are bringing that experience directly to consumers, giving them one place to manage more of their everyday financial activities. This is the next phase of Remita’s growth as we build a service around how people actually manage their money every day.”

Through participating financial institutions, users can connect multiple bank accounts and carry out everyday transactions from the app. These include transfers, airtime and data purchases, electricity and other bill payments, government and merchant payments, as well as recurring payments. The app also provides tools for budgeting, expense tracking and managing personal finances.

The app also extends Remita’s reach beyond domestic transactions through cross-border payment capabilities across Africa. Through its partnership with the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), users can debit their local bank accounts and transfer funds to accounts in other participating African countries directly from the Remita App.

The launch responds to the way many consumers currently manage their finances across different banks and financial platforms. Adedayo Adewale, Head, Consumer and Retail Business, Remita, said the app was developed to reduce the need to move between multiple applications for everyday financial activities.

“One of the challenges we have responded to is that individuals in Nigeria have fragmented financial services. Today, they have different apps for different needs but would rather do away with the stress of moving between multiple applications. They want to be able to start and complete their financial transactions from one place,” she said.

Remita was also a sponsor of Nigeria Fintech Week 2026, providing a platform for the company to engage with players across Nigeria’s financial technology industry while unveiling its new consumer product. Speaking at the event, Atanda said the next stage of payments would involve extending the infrastructure that supports financial activity beyond domestic transactions and into wider African markets.

“Payment infrastructure has become fiscal infrastructure. Over the last decade, we have seen enormous growth in instant payments, terminals, agent networks and financial inclusion, and these developments have changed the way money moves in Nigeria. The next step is taking that infrastructure beyond local transactions and into cross-border payments funded from local bank accounts. That is where technology, regulation and cooperation have to continue moving together,” he added.

The move into the consumer market builds on Remita’s more than two decades of experience supporting payments for organisations and institutions. The company currently processes more than ₦100 trillion in transactions annually, largely driven by corporate payments, and is now taking that experience into the consumer market.

Atanda said the shift reflects the company’s experience of working across Nigeria’s payments industry and its decision to bring that experience closer to consumers.

“Our vision when we started was to make it easier for organisations to make diverse payments,” he recalled.

“Having learned over the years, it became clear that the next phase was to take that experience to consumers. We currently process more than ₦100 trillion every year, largely driven by corporate payments. As we enter the consumer space, we expect to see significant adoption in the months ahead.”

The company will continue to expand the app through its banking and financial partners, adding new capabilities and services as its consumer offering develops.
