Old English Superstore and Bakery has celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of providing affordable household essentials and freshly baked goods to consumers while steadily expanding its commercial footprint across Southwest Nigeria.

From its humble beginnings, the indigenous retail powerhouse has grown into one of the country’s most recognized superstore and bakery brands. According to management, reaching the 10-year milestone reflects a sustained commitment to product quality, competitive pricing, and long-term customer satisfaction amidst a shifting economic landscape.

Over the past decade, the enterprise has expanded beyond its initial footprint, opening retail outlets in Abeokuta (Ogun State), Ibadan (Oyo State), and six strategic locations across Lagos State. Today, the chain serves thousands of daily shoppers seeking a wide spectrum of groceries, household merchandise, and fresh bakery products.

Speaking during the anniversary celebrations, the Chairman of Old English Superstore and Bakery, Dr. Lanre Alfred, noted that the company’s decade-long journey has been anchored on a single-minded focus: making quality food accessible to everyday Nigerian households.

“Our mission from day one was clear—to bring high-quality goods to families at prices they can truly afford,” Alfred said. “Over the last 10 years, we have built this brand on the pillars of trust, consistency, and value, ensuring that every customer leaves our stores with exceptional quality without stretching their budgets.”

Alfred stressed that the company’s long-term vision transcends standard retail operations. Instead, Old English aims to solidify its position as a national household name synonymous with operational excellence, community impact, and customer care.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we are renewing our commitment to continuous growth, innovation, and service,” he added. “We will continue to invest in modern retail facilities, expand into new urban centers, generate employment, and empower local suppliers—all while maintaining uncompromising standards in food safety and product quality.”

Addressing the company’s regional growth across Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo states, Alfred attributed the chain’s rapid footprint expansion to strong consumer confidence and brand loyalty.

“This anniversary belongs as much to our loyal patrons, dedicated staff, and trade partners as it does to the business itself,” Alfred noted. “As we usher in our second decade, our priority remains exceeding expectations. Whether through our flagship signature bread, premium baked goods, or affordable groceries, we want to enrich the everyday lives of Nigerians and build a brand anchored on lasting trust.”

Industry analysts point to Old English’s expansion as a notable success story within Nigeria’s competitive fast-moving consumer goods and retail sectors. As the company enters its second decade, management reaffirmed plans to deepen its market penetration nationwide through strategic site acquisitions, enhanced supply-chain integration, and modernized customer service platforms.
