JUST IN: Nollywood legend Olu Jacobs dies @84
Veteran Nigerian actor and film executive, Oludotun Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.
His death brings to an end the life and career of one of Nigeria’s most recognised actors, whose work spanned several decades across theatre, television and film.
Jacob’s death was announced by his son, Olusoji Jacobs, in a post on Instagram on Wednesday, in which the family expressed gratitude for his life and appealed to the public to respect their privacy.
“It is with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought, that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and uncle. The Lion of Lufodo.
“Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs (MFR)11/07/1942-16/09/2026.We call on all bloggers and social media influencers to respect our family’s privacy at this time.”
The late actor was also a film executive and played a significant role in Nigeria’s contemporary film industry, becoming one of the country’s most respected figures in the entertainment sector.
Throughout his career, Olu Jacobs was known for his commanding performances in both Nigerian and international productions, earning widespread recognition for his work on stage and screen.
His contributions to theatre, television and film established him as one of the enduring figures of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
