Ikeja residents have lauded the official flagging-off of ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ Ramadan Food Palliatives to support both Muslims and Christians and this fasting period.

Mr Abisola Omisore, the Vice Chairman Ikeja Local Government in Lagos State, who distributed the palliatives to the residents, thanked President Bola Tinubu’s kind gestures to the residents at the fasting period.

Omisore said that the initiative was brought to the people through the office of the President to support the masses during the fasting period.

“This initiative is being brought up by the office of the Mr President Bola Tinubu, for the people in his ward, to show a sign of commitment and at the same time to tell them they are not being forgotten and he is ready to do more for them.

“President Tinubu felt the pains and the struggle in the country, that’s why he’s doing this across all boards, but this one is taking place in his home constituency, I mean his ward, Ward F in Alausa, Ikeja.

“At least to show a kind of commitment, a relief for family that will partake in this Ramadan and Lenten time, this is time to show love at this festive period.

“It is a time of love that we need to show commitment to one another and this is what Mr President is trying to do, to spread around that we should all remain committed and focused as Ramadan festive period have shown and taught us to be,,” he said.

The Ikeja vice Chairman said that the people were picked from various groups regardless of political affiliations in the community to ensure residents benefit and go round to the grassroots.

According to him, these items are for community people, it went for everybody, they were not picked politically, it was done through our Community Development Association (CDA), the ward councillor representing this ward, the religious body and through our community leaders,it’s been spread across the board.

“We have 10 kg of rice, we have millo, we have milk, we have salt, we have groundnut oil, Pastas and the likes of all food items, it’s a full package,” he said.

Mr Lawal Ganiyu, the Councilor-Representing Alausa Ward F Ikeja while given his remarks during the distribution exercise thanked the president for the food palliatives to the people.

“I want to first thank our President Bola Tinubu because this is his ward, and I want to thank him for the activities and the events that have been taking place throughout the country.

Today we share the palliative, which is really palliative, to subsidise those that have been lamenting of hunger, to make sure at least little has been given to them to be able to handle what they have at home.

That is why we decided to call the people of our ward to make sure things have been given to them, because we know we are in the month of Ramadan and Lenten period so this little package, will go a long way.

“It’s not because this is President Ward. It’s going on generally, and this is not the first time these things have been done in the ward.

“A lot of programmes have been taking place all over the place. I’m just saying that we appreciate him for making us proud by giving the residents food items at this period,” he said.

Mrs Rukayat Usman, one of the beneficiaries in her remarks thanked the president Tinubu’s kind gesture saying the items would go a long way at this Ramadan period.

“I’m here today because of the palliative our president, Bola Tinubu is giving us.They have many things inside, like rice, spaghetti, macaroni, sugar, sauce, cooking oil and tomato paste.

“So we really appreciate him very much. We pray to God to give him a long life so that in the next election he will win again because he has done a lot for us.

And we also use this opportunity to thank our Vice Chairman Abisola Omishore, when we call them for this anything they answer, we really enjoy them, also my appreciation to our Councilor Lawal.

“This item is going to help us, seriously, because now we are fasting as I’m talking now, I’m fasting. At the same time I’m a widow, so this food will really help me a lot.

“I think these food items will sustain me for the rest of the Ramadan period and also able to extend to my neighbours who are not here.

Mr Monday Oguneje, also a beneficiary thanked the President Tinubu for remembering them in Ikeja community with the food palliatives.

Oguneje said that the quality of the food packages could not be over emphasised as it contained various items that could sustain family for weeks.

“We are proud of the president and we really appreciate the kind gesture to the people May God and be with him and grant him his heart desires,” he said.
