Someone may say that God takes only the best of us. Unfortunately, 2020 is another year of great losses in the movie industry. A lot of famous actors, actresses and producers died in the previous year. Nollywood Yoruba also lost famous artistes.
This morning in the ancient city of Ibadan, another popular face in the Yoruba movie industry, Alh Gbolagade Akinpelu popularly called Ogun Majek died at his Imalefalafia, Oke-Ado, Ibadan home.
Veteran actor and filmmaker, Tunde Ola-Yusuf, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post.
In a terse statement, he said: “From him we come and on to him we shall return, Alh Gbolagade Akinpelu Ogunmajek has returned to his creator. May God almighty rest his soul among the righteous. Amen.”
The actor battled prolonged-sickness before his eventual demise.
Recall The Street Journal reported that the son of Ogun Majek, Akinpeju Akeem Abidemi issued a message appealing for financial assistance to treat his father.
According to Abidemi, the children of Gbolagade Akinpelu are using the medium to appeal to all indigenes of Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigerians as a whole to provide financial assistance for the treatment of their father who has been battling with an unknown sickness for some years.
Abidemi said that they have spent and sold all resources at their disposal but all to no avail. He said they are asking for help from the public in order not to lose the ailing film actor.
Abidemi enjoined people across religious beliefs to pray for his father and to also pray for intending donors that their pockets will never dry.
Ogun Majek leaves behind a wife, children and loved ones to mourn him.
