Oshodi-Isolo Local Government kickstarts Year 2022 Budget Retreat, Tagged "Budget of Transformation"

The Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, his vice, Hon. Mrs. Modupe Islamiyat Badmus-Aregbe, the Council Manager, Council Trasurer, heads of department, and political office holders on Monday converged at the prestigious Keem Hotels and Suites Abeokuta for this year's budget retreat, tagged budget of transformation, with call for the improvement in revenue generation.

While declaring the retreat open, the Executive Chairman reminded the gathering that the retreat is put in place to create a conducive atmosphere in order to rigorously set agenda, justify proposals and mist importantly disaggregate limited resources amongst numerous and unlimited wants to achieve optimal budget performance.

He also posited that it's also another platform to fashion out ways through which we can improve and enhance revenue base. He maintained that all proposals are important and necessary, but imperative that the goals for the year is to prioritize them in order of importance due to restricted sources of revenue .

According to him "let me remind us that a great retreat such as this is meant to create a conducive atmosphere in order to rigorously set agenda, justify our proposals and most importantly disaggregate our limited resources amongst numerous and unlimited wants for us to achieve an optimal budget performance by the end of the year."

He also used the opportunity to inform that his six months' administration has been delivering dividends of democracy to the people of the local government and he promised such will continue in the year 2022, while he enumerated the projects embarked upon in the first six month of his administration which include the roads construction, borehole drilling, empowerment of the people, training of unemployed youths and school leavers.

In his words "it is important to say that in the past six months of my administration, we have delivered the dividends of democracy to the door steps of our people by constructing good roads, twenty four to be precise and we are doing more, we have dug boreholes to provide clean water. We have also prioritized welfare in so much that we provided different packages for the less privileged, widows and indigent students etc, by God's grace 2022 will be better".

The council helmsman promised that all projects will be rounded up within set timeframe and requested for the support of all and sundry.

In reviewing the year 2021 budget, between August and December, Mrs Lambo Oluwabunmi, disclosed that the total revenue received was five hundred and fifty five million naira, two hundred and ninety thousand, one hundred and fourteen naira, thirty two kobo (#555,296,115.76).

She mentioned that the recurrent expenditure within the period was #305,650,757. 32 and None Current Asset was #148,484,911.44, which she described as budget performance of 55%.

The Chairman equally used the occasion to appeal to Council Area Officers to buckle up as he is not happy with the performance in the year under review, as the revenue generated was actually an aberration. He disclosed that he has numerous life-changing Programmes and projects that he wants to implement in year 2022 and the council needs finance to embark on these projects.
