Angélique Kidjo beats the Kutis, Wizkid to win Best World Music Album

Wizkid loses Best Global Music Album Grammy to Angelique Kidjo. Wizkid was nominated in two categories: Best Global Music Performance and Best Global Music Album. On the night, he was beaten out for Best Global Music Performance by Angelique Kidjo, who won with her album Mother Nature.

Nigerian artists included Femi and Made Kuti with their Legacy + album and Wizkid with his Made In Lagos Deluxe album.

Angelique also defeated Ghana's Rocky Dawuni and America's Daniel Ho & Friends in the category. Several producers worked on Angélique's fifth Grammy-winning album, 'Mother Nature,' including Kel P of (Burna Boy), James Poyser of The Roots, Vtek, Rexxie, Synematik, Blue Lab Beats, -M-, Brad Thomas Ackley, David Donatien, and Dany Synthé.

During her acceptance speech, she gave a shout-out to those three artists. She said, "When I won [my last] Grammy, I said that the young musicians from Africa are gonna take the world by storm, so I want to thank them: Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Sting, Mr. Eazi..."

Here is a list of winners in the major categories for the 64th annual Grammy Awards, which were handed out on Sunday in Las Vegas.

Jazzman and bandleader Jon Batiste led the night with five awards including Album of the Year.

Retro act Silk Sonic — the group project of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak — won four awards including Record and Song of the Year. Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo was named Best New Artist.
