According to the bank, sequel to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s recent directive on the sale of foreign exchange for PTA and school fees, the following guidelines shall consequently apply at all the bank’s business offices: Applicants for the Personal Travel Allowance (PTA) category must be at least 18years old and a holder of a Nigerian passport holds a UBA account with verifiable Bank Verification Number (BVN) while PTA shall only apply to journeys of minimum 5 hours flight time and the flight must originate from Nigeria.
He/she must also have a travel date that must not be more than 14 days from the date of purchase of PTA and he /she shall be entitled to $4, 000 per quarter. Remittances of school fees will be made directly to the school’s account, requests will be for a maximum of $15, 000 or its equivalent per term/semester. Only recognized parents/guardians can apply after presenting verifiable BVN in addition to having a duly completed Form “A”, admission letter and Invoice from the school.
The bank also stated that it has made foreign currency debit and prepaid cards available to customers to help in securing foreign exchange with ease.
