New Ajax striker Tolu Arokodare began his time at the club with a bang by scoring on his debut. He helped Ajax win 3-1 against FC Volendam in a pre-season match at the Kras Stadion in Volendam on Sunday, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Arokodare came on as a substitute in the 71st minute for Marcos Leonardo. He scored after taking advantage of a poor clearance inside the FC Volendam box.

Leonardo had already scored earlier to give Ajax the lead after Anton Gaaei opened the scoring.

Arokodare recently joined Ajax on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. There is also an option to make the move permanent.

This goal is a great start for Arokodare. He arrived in Amsterdam after a successful time at Racing Genk before moving to Wolves.

His stay at Wolves did not go well. The club claimed he caused problems during training as he was looking to leave. Arokodare denied these claims. He posted on social media, “Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards.”

The 25-year-old moved to Molineux for £24m from Genk. He signed a four-year contract in September 2025 after scoring 31 league goals in 79 matches for the Belgian team.

But things did not go as planned in the Premier League. He scored just three times in 33 games as Wolves were relegated to the Championship.

Ajax finished fifth in the Eredivisie last season. They will compete in the Conference League this year, provided they get through the play-offs.
