Alimosho LG inaugurates ‘Operation Flush’ against fake document merchants
Alimosho Local Government in Lagos State on Friday inaugurated “Operation Flush” to sanitise the council and eliminate fake document merchants.
The Executive Chairman, Mr Johnson Akinpelu, said the initiative was designed to protect the council from individuals issuing fraudulent documents to residents.
He announced that he was officially inaugurating a committee headed by the council’s Legal Department counsel, Mr Taiwo Onayinka, with members drawn from the NSCDC, Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, and other selected officials.
Akinpelu explained that the committee’s mandate was clear: to sanitise Alimosho Local Government and eliminate those producing fake documents.
He warned that such activities would no longer be tolerated and that anyone caught would be handed to the police and prosecuted for forgery and fraud.
The chairman noted that the syndicate’s activities had destroyed lives and opportunities and stressed that the damage could not be overstated.
He added that the syndicate had cut short many dreams, with some people imprisoned due to fake documents and others denied visas after careful embassy scrutiny.
Akinpelu emphasised that in Alimosho, criminal acts of this nature would no longer be tolerated and that touts pretending to be local government staff would be dealt with.
He cited a case in which an individual was denied a US visa because fake documents had been obtained in the council’s name.
The chairman urged residents not to deal with anyone outside official local government offices and reminded them that the council did not operate from its gates.
He advised residents to remain vigilant and cautious.
In his remarks, Onayinka assured the chairman of the team’s dedication to the task, stating that they were committed to flushing out the elements undermining the council.
He noted that the activities of the syndicate stained the local government and harmed victims’ dealings with embassies, schools, and other institutions.
Onayinka said the inauguration of ‘Operation Flush’ marked a decisive step by Alimosho Local Government toward restoring integrity, protecting residents, and boosting confidence in official documentation processes.
