Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has vowed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will seek to reclaim power in Jigawa State in the 2027 general elections, accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of setbacks in key sectors.
Lamido made the declaration during the inauguration of the PDP Campaign Council in Dutse, where he criticised the state government’s performance in healthcare, education and other essential services.
He said the party was determined to restore what he described as the state’s lost progress in governance and development.
“Unfortunately, Jigawa State has been taken backwards under the present administration. We are determined to restore the state to its rightful position in governance, development, unity and peaceful coexistence,” Lamido said.
The former governor expressed concern about access to basic healthcare and quality education, alleging that hospitals lacked adequate services while schools continued to deteriorate.
He also expressed confidence in the PDP’s leadership, saying the party had experienced leaders capable of delivering accountable and people-oriented governance.
“The APC administration has failed the people of Jigawa State. Our administration will prioritise the welfare of all residents, regardless of political affiliation,” he stated.
Lamido further promised that the party would conduct its campaigns peacefully ahead of the 2027 elections, urging party members to avoid intimidation and personal attacks.
“Our campaigns will be conducted peacefully, with respect, unity and mutual understanding. Our primary objective is to restore the dignity of Nigeria and Jigawa State,” he added.
The remarks come as political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections, with the PDP seeking to challenge the APC’s hold on Jigawa State.
The allegations against the APC administration were made by Lamido during the party event and were not independently substantiated in the report.
