Osun State chapter of the Allied People’s Movement, APM, has said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s appointment as coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign will not guarantee victory for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.
The party made its position known following Adeleke’s inclusion as Osun State Coordinator of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PBAT, Presidential Campaign Council in the revised list released by the APC.
In a statement signed by its Osun State Chairman, Wale Adebayo, the APM described the appointment as inconsequential to the APC’s electoral prospects in the state.
Adebayo maintained that Osun voters would determine their choices based on candidates’ performance and personal convictions rather than campaign appointments.
He said, “Osun State has a politically sophisticated electorate capable of making independent decisions during elections.
“His inclusion in the revised APC Presidential Campaign Council list does not guarantee Tinubu’s victory in Osun in the coming general election.”
The APM chairman added that Adeleke’s designation as the president’s campaign coordinator would not automatically translate into electoral support for the APC.
“Osun people are politically sophisticated and will vote based on their conscience, not on whose name appears on a campaign council list,” he stated.
Adebayo argued that the governor’s new responsibility within the presidential campaign structure would not determine the outcome of the forthcoming general election in Osun.
“The fact that Adeleke was named Osun State Coordinator of the PBAT Presidential Campaign Council does not mean the APC will win Osun,” he said.
The APM chairman expressed confidence that opposition parties would remain competitive in the state despite Adeleke’s association with Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
“We are confident that despite this appointment, our presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, will win Osun State in the general election,” Adebayo declared.
