Security: Lagos Assembly lauds Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA on establishment of Situation Rooms
The Lagos State House of Assembly has applauded Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on its establishment of Situation Room Operation in tackling insecurity challenges within the LCDA.
The Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Ganiu Sanni, made the commendation during the committee’s oversight functions to the council in Lagos on Wednesday.
Sanni said the situation room initiative would further assist the security agencies to determine, tackle and curtail social vices in the community.
He said: “Honestly we score him 95 per cent, because the development is second to none across all local governments in the.
“A situation where cameras were placed in some strategic community monitoring traffic, movements and security of the area for 24 hours is a big initiative and development in our council.
“We really thank him for the development and advice him for more development initiatives for the better Ayobo Ipaja community.”
In his remarks, the council chairman, Mr Lukmon Agbaje, said the situation room would enhance security, emergency response, and service delivery within the council area.
Agbaje said the facility was a 24-hour communication hub where residents could report security concerns, domestic violence, public disturbances, and other community issues requiring government intervention.
He said: “The initiative will strengthen the link between residents and government while ensuring prompt response through collaboration with key security agencies.
“These security agencies include the Nigeria Police Force and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.”
Agbaje said the council had begun data collection of residents and business operators to improve security monitoring and service delivery,.
He added that the Nigeria Immigration Service would also support the council in addressing issues involving foreign nationals residing in the area.
Agbaje said the facility was a timely intervention capable of improving public safety and grassroots governance.
