The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Adewole Adebayo, has revealed solutions to Nigeria’s lingering security, governance and socio-economic challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adebayo outlined the solutions in his remarks at the Arewa Security Summit in Kaduna on Wednesday.

According to him, Nigeria’s problems are solvable if citizens elect leaders who are committed to good governance and accountability.

He said that if elected President, Nigerians would get “a final solution, and a fine solution” to the country’s challenges through responsible leadership and people-centred policies.

In his remarks, Adebayo said the first step towards solving Nigeria’s problems is for citizens to recognise the power of their votes in a democratic system.

“We are not as powerless as we look. We are living in a democracy. Therefore, nobody can come to power except through the will of the people, both in the North and the southern part of the country,” he said.

Adebayo urged Nigerians to elect leaders who understand the country’s problems, from the president to governors, local government chairmen and lawmakers.

“If we choose leaders who understand our issues, they will work for us. If we appreciate them, support them, encourage them, pray for them and hold them accountable, they will respond,” he added.

Adebayo said no societal problem is permanent, noting that every generation has faced challenges but succeeded through responsible leadership and the collective will of the people.

He maintained that democracy provides Nigerians with an opportunity to build a prosperous and well-structured nation.

Adebayo called for greater investment by the government and the private sector, particularly in agriculture, saying large-scale farming could create employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians and boost economic growth.

He also identified corruption as one of the country’s greatest obstacles to development, insisting that no system would function effectively unless corruption is decisively addressed.

“It doesn’t matter how you design or refine the system. If you don’t deal with the issue of corruption, the problems will remain.

“We are not as powerless as we think. If we follow the right path for Nigeria, we can overcome these challenges,” he said
